Is it something to be proud of - BAITING THE ELDERLY?. It is abhorrent when the youth and even mature adults in our modern Australia harass and bait the elderly. Do they find this gives them a sense of power?
They are an appalling example of human beings that have no ethics or any basic sense of caring about their fellow human beings.
Unfortunately we live in an age of discrimination - discrimination against refugees, discrimination against indigenous peoples, discrimination against women, discrimination against war veterans, discrimination against the physically and mentally disadvantaged and the growing discrimination of the elderly in our society. Its a disgrace that the vulnerable in our society become victims of the 'evil perpetrators of hate'. The horror of our nursing homes recently highlighted in the media has revealed an evil that is permeating our modern society at every level. Too strong - no! We have experienced it at first hand in our residence over the last two years.

The "Lucky Country", it appears, has only been experienced by those who are monied and in power. I had never thought that as an elderly person living in the so called pacific paradise of Australia that we would become victims. After experiencing 17 months of victimisation and harassment by several youths in our street we believed that the local council and police had found a solution. It was a "hopeful delusion".
This afternoon three youths created a public nuisance in the park opposite our home - less than 40 metres from our home - only affecting our property. It was a deliberate creation of a public nuisance act and when my husband pulled into our driveway these youths who had been violently slamming balls against a concrete pad and playing a loud radio for over an hour escalated their abhorrent behaviour -screaming out obscenities and the foulest of language at my husband. They increased the volume when I walked into our garage. Ask yourself : how would you feel if this was done to you?
All of this "NOISE" and "OBSCENE LANGUAGE" could be heard throughout our home - with all doors and windows shut.
It was a deliberate act of harassment. As they left the main perpetrator who has been present in most of the hundreds of incidents over the last 17 months of complaints stood outside our home staring at the property while his friend - a new offender - continually slammed his ball against the road surface.
It begins again -
